Digital items or contents can only be meaningful in the context of their services. As an example, a virtual sword is only usable in its game and nowhere else. By working with a game publisher, we can ensure that item owners are authorized to transfer their ownership of such items in a transaction outside the game.
By integrating with the publisher, we can escrow the digital item to eliminate fraud or scams that frequently happen to solutions that are not integrated with the game.
Using the escrow approach also means easier adoption for existing games because integration does not change the existing game storage architecture.
